Photo of Jeremy Cottle

Jeremy Cottle, CEO

Dr. Jeremy Cottle is Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director for Provo Canyon Behavioral Hospital located in Orem, Utah. He holds a Doctorate in Counseling, Education, and Supervision from St. Mary’s University; a Master’s in Social Work from Our Lady of The Lake University; and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Weber State University. Dr. Cottle has both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric experience treating adolescents, adults, and older adults. He serves on advisory boards for Wasatch Mental Health and Utah Valley University School of Social Sciences. He is co-chair for the Utah Hospital Association Committee on Mental Health; he teaches psychopharmacology at Brigham Young University in the Graduate School of Social Work. Dr. Cottle is passionate about “Breaking the Silence” of mental illness and filling the gaps (of mental health) where services may be limited in Utah and surrounding counties.

Barbara George, Admissions Director

Barbara George is Director of Admissions for Provo Canyon Behavioral Hospital located in Orem, Utah. She holds a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of Phoenix, and a Bachelor’s in Social Work from Weber State University. Barbara has experience with crisis and trauma assessments in the hospital setting as well as individual counseling. She served on the board for Clinical Mental Health Counselors for five years and is currently participating in the Zero Suicide Collaboration Committee for the State of Utah. She is passionate about helping individuals and families see hope while bringing a sense of calmness to a traumatic event.

Diann Decker, HR Director

Diann Decker is the Human Resource Director for Provo Canyon Behavioral Hospital. She received a Bachelor’s Degree and her Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Brigham Young University. Diann has had a long career in HR and the hospital setting. She retired from Intermountain Healthcare as the HR Manager and Regional Consultant for the Urban South Region after 35 years of service. After retirement she left healthcare for a year to teach at Provo College, entering back into the hospital setting in 2011 when the opportunity to work at Provo Canyon Behavioral Hospital was offered. For the last eight years, she has participated in the growth and commitment of Provo Canyon Behavioral Hospital to the community. She finds great joy seeing patients and their family members find hope from their stay.

Todd Christensen, Director of Business Development

Todd Christensen is the Director of Business Development. Todd has eight years of experience in health care business development, marketing, sales and leadership. Todd recently re-joined Provo Canyon Behavioral Hospital as the Director Of Business Development. He most recently worked as an Executive Director for a skilled nursing faculty is Salt Lake City, Utah. Todd is very passionate about educating the community members about mental health and providing the very best experience for both patients and family members. In 2012 Todd received a bachelor degree in Community Health with an emphasis in healthcare administration from Utah Valley University. In 2014 he received a Masters of Public Administration degree with an emphasis is healthcare management from Grand Canyon University.

Alex Gonzalez, Clinical Director

Alex C. Gonzalez is the Clinical Director for Provo Canyon Behavioral Hospital. He is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. He has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor. Alex has over 14 years of experience working in the mental health field. He has been working at Provo Canyon Behavioral Hospitalfor the past five years and before he was the director for all mental health and substance abuse services for Tooele County. He is very passionate about his job and helping individuals with a mental illness. When he isn’t working, you’ll find him traveling, learning about other cultures or listening to music.

Alan Jensen, Director of Engineering/Plant Operations

Alan Jensen is the Director of Plant Operations. Alan has an extensive background in the field with over 20 years’ experience. He has a diverse skill set including both project management and safety management. Alan joined the Provo Canyon Behavioral Hospital team in 2014.

Valerye is the Director of Nursing. Valerye is very innovative and knowledgeable as she has been a healthcare professional for 20+ years in diverse hospital settings.

Keri Moss, Executive Assistant

Keri Moss is the Administrative Assistant. Keri received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Weber State University. She taught school for 16 years in the state of Washington. In 2014 she moved to her home state of Utah and started working with Provo Canyon Behavioral Hospital. Keri is very versatile and has done everything from working the front desk to working in medical records. In 2015 she went back to school and earned a CPC (Certificate Professional Coder). After working in medical records she was promoted to Administrative Assistant.

Connie Simms, Director of Outpatient

Connie Simms is Director of Outpatient/LCSW for Provo Canyon Behavioral Hospital. Connie has over twenty years of clinical experience. She specializes in helping those struggling with depression, anxiety and other difficult issues. Connie enjoys working with individuals, groups and families. She believes in the ability of every person to create positive change in their lives, and empowers them to make positive changes in their lives. Connie received her bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science and her master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Utah.
