Adolescent Outpatient Treatment

Provo Canyon Behavioral Hospital offers outpatient treatment to adolescents as a step down in care from inpatient hospitalization, or to manage symptoms before an inpatient stay is needed.

Family Involvement

Family involvement is a critical component of the healing process. Family members and other caregivers are able to participate in family therapy and parent education sessions. A multidisciplinary team coordinates the patient’s therapy, working in conjunction with the patient, the family and the referral source. Referral sources are family members, physicians, counselors, schools and related caregiving agencies.

Outpatient Goals

  • To assist the adolescent to function independently and responsibly within the family, the school and the community.
  • To assist the adolescent and the family in the development of an aftercare plan for the maintenance of newly acquired behavioral management and coping skills.
  • To educate the family and alleviate conflict, while improving group and individual functioning.
  • To help build the notion of trustworthy relationships and to increase self-respect and self-control within the adolescent.
