Dual Diagnosis

Dual Diagnosis

Inpatient Dual Diagnosis

Sometimes addiction to alcohol or drugs is accompanied by a secondary, but significant, condition that may affect the positive outcome of treatment for alcohol and other substances.

Some of the conditions that lead to a dual diagnosis (co-occurring disorders) include:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Mood Instability
  • Post-traumatic stress

At Provo Canyon Behavioral Hospital, we know that drug and alcohol addiction is not a character deficiency or moral weakness. It is a progressive, potentially fatal disease that has a long-term emotional and physical impact on the individual and the entire family. When it is accompanied by other mental health problems, it is important to treat both. At least 30 percent of the people with alcohol and/or drug addiction also have emotional disorders. Addictive behaviors are more likely to continue unless these disorders are recognized and treated.

Provo Canyon Behavioral Hospital has decades of experience dealing with psychiatric illness and substance addictions. Our objective is to return an individual to his or her daily routine as soon as possible.
